JOB SUMMARY:
Provide management and support to the development and delivery of progressive outdoor programs intended to help participants gain developmental assets that will broaden their personal growth, enhance their understanding and relationships with each other and increase their connection and appreciation to the environment and outdoors. .Collaborate on short and long range plans for council-wide and regional outdoor program services. This job may carry supervisory responsibility if assigned the role of Camp Director at a summer resident program.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Ensure that the development and implementation of quality camp programs is consistent with program and organizational goals and meets the needs of participants from a diverse population.
2. Manage assigned specific initiatives such as volunteer run camp programs, year-round outdoor program, curriculum development, special event or camper recruitment, etc.
3. Ensure that outdoor program events and activities meet quality, consistency, and safety guidelines, including GSUSA, GSNorCal, State of California/OSHA, and the American Camp Association as applicable.
4. Serve, if needed, as an on-site Camp Director, managing related responsibilities. In this role the Outdoor Program Manager will carry budgetary and supervisory responsibility.
5. Assist with the development of outdoor program curriculum that meets all organizational standards and criteria and effectively emphasizes contemporary issues, progression of skills and leadership development.
6. Assist with the development and implementation of outcome evaluation to effectively measure the success of program delivery. Analyze and report outcome evaluation results to ensure the achievement of outdoor program goals.
7. Collaborate with staff from Outdoor Program, and other departments to plan program initiatives, strategic initiatives and marketing strategies to promote outdoor programs within GSNorCal to insure increased participation of Girl Scout members in outdoor programs, and to attract new members to the organization.
8. Collaborate with volunteers, community groups and educational institutions to identify and provide further opportunities for Girl Scout outdoor programming.
9. Monitor, collect and report on financial and statistical data related to assigned areas and budgets. Ensure the prompt handling of all business related matters including Finance and HR requirements.
10. Participate in council-wide activities and events, department meetings, one-on-one meetings with colleagues and cross-functional staff teams as required.
11. Keep abreast of trends and issues affecting girls, the camping industry as well as GSUSA's changes and requirements related to the program department and GSNorCal.
12. Other projects and assignments as needed.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree- Minimum two years experience in organized camp leadership, camp program development, delivery and evaluation, and camp business and operating procedures.
Knowledge of California State organized camp laws and American Camp Association standards.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills; excellent facilitation, conflict resolution, and presentation skills.
Strong goal setting, project planning, budget management, organization, and follow-through skills.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to cultivate, motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds and all organizational levels.
Good computer skills including proficiency in the most current versions of Windows and Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and ability to use the Internet and to learn/use specialized or proprietary software.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs; ability to traverse remote properties and walk rough terrain.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast paced, changing environment.
Project management skills to be able to comply with a budget and be accountable for expenditures, inventories and other council resources.
Ability to handle confidential materials and information in an appropriate manner.
Ability to work collaboratively through teams and cross-function task groups.
Commitment to work in support of the Girl Scouts mission and to act with integrity, courage, respect and use resources wisely.
Strong interest in issues affecting youth.
Current California driver's license, valid auto insurance and reliable transportation.
Ability to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends as needed.
Minimum age: 25 years.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual, knowledge of other languages or cultures
Knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy, standards, program and systems.
